University of Essex Delegation Visits IBA Karachi

A delegation of esteemed faculty and staff members from the University of Essex visited Main Campus, Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi to strengthen the potential collaboration between both Institutions.

Mr. Ivan Hutchins, Director of International Business Development; Mr. Muhammad Talha, Country Manager, Pakistan & Iran; Ms. Sabahat Mahmood, Recruitment and Development Officer represented University of Essex and Ms Maheen Ghauri, Dean Student Affairs, Ms Mehar Un Nisa, Senior Executive Student Affairs, Sheikh Muhammad Uzair, Senior Executive Student Affairs represented IBA-International Resource Center (IRC). The representatives discussed collaboration opportunities including but not limited to student, faculty, and staff exchange, research collaborations, joint teaching programs, scholarship opportunities and more.

IBA-IRC collaborated with the School of Economics and Social Sciences (SESS) and School of Mathematics & Computer Science (SMCS) to host guest lectures for IBA Students. Distinguished faculty members from the University of Essex conducted informative and engaging sessions with the IBA students and faculty.

Professor Simon Weidenholzer spoke on “Understanding Coordination Problems Using Game Theory”. Dr. Joseph Bailey delivered the lecture titled, “From Predicting Netflix to Analyzing Animal Behaviour: Data Science at the University of Essex". Dr. Laura Sudulich’s topic of discussion was “2024 – A Big year for Elections”. Dr. Antonio Da Silva spoke on “AI in Language Teaching and Learning: Transforming TESOL for the Future.”

The sessions were engaging, and the speakers enjoyed sharing their knowledge and expertise with the IBA students and faculty, making them a huge success.
