Visit to Ida Rieu
On May 27, 2025, Team OSA had the privilege of visiting Ida Rieu, an institution dedicated to empowering visually and hearing-impaired students through inclusive and holistic education.
During our visit, we witnessed the impressive work being done by the students, who are taught life skills alongside Braille and sign language to support effective communication and independent living. We also had the chance to learn about the use of Braille typewriters and specially designed keyboards that help students type and navigate computers with ease. In addition to their academic and technological achievements, the students actively take part in sports and have proudly represented Ida Rieu in the IBA Rowing Competition.
A unique highlight of our visit was the presence of a 200-year-old tree on their campus - a beautiful symbol of strength and resilience, much like the Ida Rieu community itself.
The experience was both inspiring and humbling, reminding us of the importance of accessibility, support, and inclusive learning environments.
