The IBA Karachi Welcomes its New Students at the Orientation Gala 2024

The "IBA Orientation Gala 2024 (OGala ’24)" was organized by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi’s Office of Student Affairs (OSA) from 16th to 18th August 2024 to welcome the new incoming batch of 2024. This three-day orientation was attended by the parents of the new students as well. Around 2500 people including the new students and parents, faculty and staff attended the event. 

Shedding light on the purpose of the event, Dean Student Affairs, Ms. Maheen Ghauri shared, “I am thrilled to welcome you all to the engaging and diverse IBA community – You Made It! I am excited to witness your learning and growth, and see each one of you achieve your dreams. We aim to make your journey and association with IBA exciting and stimulating, while fostering a culture of acceptance and inclusion. Enjoy the 3-day fun-filled, action-packed OGala ’24!”

Orientation sessions were conducted by the School of Business Studies (SBS) on Day 1, and the School of Mathematics and Computer Science (SMCS), and School of Economics and Social Sciences (SESS) on Day 2. Professor & Dean SBS, Dr. Abdullah Z. Sheikh, Professor and Dean SMCS, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Khoja, and Professor and Dean of SESS, Dr. Asma Hyder, along with their respective chairpersons, briefed the students about their academic programs and courses.

A Meet and Greet session was organized by OSA on Day 3, where deans, chairpersons, program directors and faculty met with their the new students and parents.

The IBA Center for Entrepreneurial Development (CED) collaborated with the OSA at the OGala ‘24 and organized the IBazaar where around 60 exhibits including eco-friendly initiatives, tech, fashion, health, beauty, and food startups were set up.

Students enjoyed a range of games and activities on all three days which gave the new students the chance to get to know themselves better and make long-lasting friendships and peers for the coming years.

This event could not have been possible without the tireless efforts of the Student Affairs steam, student volunteers (Orientation Captains), the Center for Entrepreneurial development (CED) team, and the student support and administration offices whom ensured that the IBA executed a festive and successful event.

The OGala ‘24 concluded with a movie screening. The IBA students, staff, and faculty had an engaging and diverse experience and look forward to their future at the IBA.
