June 10, 2026: HEC Conducts Institutional Accessibility & Inclusion Review at IBA Karachi
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan conducted an Institutional Accessibility and Inclusion Review at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi to evaluate the University's efforts in creating a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment for all students.
The review encompassed an assessment of IBA's accommodation facilities, accessibility measures, and support services for students with disabilities and special needs. Representatives from HEC met with relevant departments and committees to gain insight into the University's policies, procedures, and practices aimed at promoting equal access to education and campus life.
As part of the review, the audit team examined the University's framework for academic accommodations, physical accessibility, assistive resources, and student support mechanisms. Discussions also highlighted the role of the Office of Diversity, Accessibility & Inclusion (ODAI) in facilitating equitable learning opportunities and addressing the diverse needs of the student body.
In addition, the review included discussions on the initiatives undertaken by the Anti-Drug & Tobbacco Committee (IBA) to promote a healthy, substance-free campus environment through awareness campaigns, prevention strategies, and policy implementation. The audit team also reviewed the work of the Anti-Harassment Committee (IBA), focusing on the University's efforts to ensure a respectful, safe, and supportive campus culture through awareness programs, reporting mechanisms, and the effective handling of harassment-related concerns.
The visit provided an opportunity to showcase IBA's commitment to student well-being, accessibility, and inclusion while receiving valuable feedback from HEC. The review also facilitated the exchange of best practices and recommendations for further strengthening institutional support systems and fostering an environment where all students can thrive.
