March 11: The IBA Placement Society held the annual Career Fair on the lush green Football Ground, at the IBA Main Campus. A total of 58 organizations from various sectors such as Media, Accounting and Finance, Social Welfare, Education, Pharmaceutical, Steel and Banking participated in this Fair. The event commenced with the Placement Society panel members introducing Dr. Farrukh Iqbal Dean and Director IBA and Mr. Danish Imtiaz, Assistant Manager Career Development Centre, to the various company representatives at the stalls.
A short opening ceremony was held, which began with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran. Following this, the Manager Placement Society, Maham Saqib, welcomed representatives from all the organizations for participating in the Career Fair. She also expressed gratitude to the sponsors and the Acting Patron Mr. Jami Moiz for their immense support. Mr. Danish Imtiaz also gave a short speech welcoming all the participants and wished the students good luck for their future endeavours. The sponsors for the event were JS Bank (Lead Sponsor), Pakistan State Oil Co. Ltd (Platinum Sponsor), United Bank Limited (Gold Sponsor), and Hum Network and Hilal as the Bronze Sponsors. The sponsors also received a great response from students in their BTL activities. The Media Partners for the event were Samaa and Aaj TV. An ad for the Career Fair was published in the Business Recorder and a short segment was also dedicated on the Aaj News Morning show in which Maham Saqib and Mehreen Mansoor appeared, in order to promote the event.
Several other well-known organizations such as Daraz, Meezan Bank, Enrgo Fertilizers, Citibank, House of Habib, Bank Alfalah, EFU Life Assurance, Getz Pharma, Habib University, Agha Steel Industries and Standard Chartered Pakistan also participated. Interviews were also conducted of candidates, which organizations had shortlisted prior to the event for particular job openings. The student body visiting the Fair was quite diverse with approximately 1500 students from various programs, such as MBA, Social Sciences, Economics and Math, Computer Sciences, Finance and Marketing attending.
Overall, the event was a great opportunity for students to network and meet employees from various organizations. It was also the first time that A.F.Ferguson & Co. (a member firm of the PwC network) participated in the Career Fair. This was a big achievement for the Placement Society team, since A.F.Ferguson is one of the largest accountancy firms in the country. Towards the end of the event, the Placement Team presented shields to representatives from each company as a token of appreciation for participating in the Career Fair.
